Push features the story of young telekinetic Nick Gant (Chris Evans), who has the ability to move objects, predict the future and even create alternate realities. The introverted Nick seeks refuge in the bustling city of Hong Kong in order to escape the corrupt governmental organization known as "The Division."
The goal of this devious organization is to design an army comprised of psychics, and it cruelly eliminates anyone who shows the least bit of resistance. After being discovered by a young clairvoyant named Cassie Holmes (Dakota Fanning), Nick teams up with her to find the escaped "pusher"(Camille Belle), who may be the only one capable of bringing down the corrupt Division. Pushers have the powerful, yet potentially dangerous ability to alter the very thoughts of anyone they choose.
When describing their upcoming action film, stars Camilla Belle and Chris Evans both lauded it as more of a "human film" than a super-hero flick and both agreed that it is a bit different than other films in this particular genre.
During a phone interview, actor Chris Evans said, "The plot is incredibly entertaining and I'd like to believe that we offer something in the way of special effects that I don't think has been done before. Our director really tried to avoid relying on CGI and green screen.
"For the most part the majority of our special effects were pretty much just done with stunt men and some clever camera work." Considering the fact that his most recent role was the Silver Surfer in the super-hero film Fantastic Four, it may appear that Evans isn't seeking diversity when it comes to the characters or films he chooses.
When asked about this concern, his response was, "Sure there is always the worry of being type-cast; it's a tricky approach you know, it's something you want to stay aware of, but if the pieces to the puzzle fit, you know. For example, if all of the sudden I got an offer for another science fiction film, and it was the right film, and it was a challenging role, despite the fact that I've done a few of those, it would be hard to say no."
