Stab the Matador is a group of four guys from Mount Kisco, N.Y. They have been rocking the Indie scene for at least three years, and they are definitely going to continue.
Although they may not be the first to create such a sound, Stab the Matador use it in their own way. Each of their songs has a particular feel to it, from disco-esque "Red Light" to the punk "Low Rider."
Each song has a semi-similar guitar sound, but it just enough for a noticeable difference, and for them to let you know who they are. By this, their songs have that Santana feel--same guitar, new song. Yet the music itself comes across as danceable, reminiscent of Hellogoodbye and the Bee Gees.
These guys give such an incredible onstage performance that anyone who sees them would want to go again and again. I've seen them twice before, and have been impressed each time. Their songs are so catchy that everyone in the room is up and dancing. The song that I remember best is "Doctor," with the lines of "If you've got a fever/I've got your prescription"-- almost like a pickup line in a song. Even so, whatever set they play, their songs are sure to be memorable.
Recently, they released their "Doctor - EP" on CD and available on iTunes to download. Although the EP only has three songs, people I know that have it or at least have listened to it love each of them. Songs are also available for purchase on their myspace at http://www.myspace.com/stabthematador, or for listening on http://www.purevolume.com/stabthematador.
Someone get the doctor, because Stab the Matador has arrived, and there's bound to be blood.
