Just two weeks removed from the biggest snowfall in Maryland history, Loyola sports fans turn their attention to the lacrosse field, as the program turns over a new leaf in its history. The commencing of the 2010 will carry extra weight for the team, as it marks the opening of the brand new Ridley Athletic Complex.

After months of speculation, Loyola named Jim Paquette as its new director of athletics and assistant vice president at a press conference held on Feb. 17. Paquette will replace long-time athletic director Joe Boylan, who has served as athletic director since 1991.

In their second season under coach Jen Adams, the Loyola women's lacrosse team looks to compete among the best teams in the nation. Adams and her high-powered offensive attack will certainly pose problems for any opponents that face the Greyhounds in 2010.

After weeks of waiting, the Loyola Men's swimming team repeated as MAAC champion, earning the school its third conference championship in the sport on Saturday, Feb. 20. The event was held at the Loyola Mangione Aquatic Center, and is one of the conference's most highly anticipated athletic events.

The Loyola men's basketball team dropped two games on the week, falling to conference rival Saint Peters xx-xx and to Bracketbuster opponent New Hampshire 61-60, with both games taking place at Reitz Arena.
Against Saint Peters, Loyola possessed a 46-37 lead with just under ten minutes remaining, only to allow a 12-point run that put the Peacocks ahead for good.

On Friday, Feb. 19 the Loyola Greyhounds fell to Marist 70-60 at Reitz Arena.
The Hounds knocked down 12 3-pointers with help from the hot hand of Erica DiClemente who converted 5 of 8 threes.
"In the second half, we had to go zone," stated Coach Joe Logan.

Led by Cooper MacDonnell's career-high six goals, No. 15 Loyola was able to squeak by No. 11 Navy 8-7 in overtime on Sat. Feb 20 in Annapolis. MacDonnell added an assist, brining his point total on the game to seven.
Junior goalie Jake Hagelin made a point blank save in overtime against Ryan O'Leary, keeping the Hounds alive against their local rival.

Led by Emily Gibson's five goals, No. 14 Loyola was able to knock off national power Virigina 15-11 on Saturday, Feb. 20 in Charlottesville, Va.
In addition to Gibson's effort, three other players recorded hat tricks for the Hounds, including Grace Gavin with four, and Cara Filipelli and Cass Cursaro with three goals each.
