Men's soccer defeats Fairfield and Niagra to clinch third straight NCAA tournament berth

By Patrick Taylor Sports Editor For the third straight year, the Loyola Men's Soccer team will be heading the the NCAA College Cup. On Sunday, the Hounds defeated Niagra in the MAAC Championship with 23 seconds left to play on a goal by freshman Matt Tyrie to propel them to their third straight appearance.

Men's basketball opens up 2009 season with rout of Vermont, loses tough one to number nine West Virginia

By Patrick Taylor Sports Editor The Loyola Men's Basketball team got it's season started on the right foot, defeating Vermont at Reitz Arena by a score of 79-66 in front of a packed house. The Hounds were led by senior guard Brett Harvey, who dropped 23 points on the Catamounts behind lights out shooting from three point land.

Women's basketball opens up 2009 season with impressive 2-0 record

By Rich Conforti Assistant Sports Editor Led by sophomore Miriam McKenzie, the Loyola Greyhounds womenís basketball team opened their season with a perfect 2-0 record with victories over La Salle and Army. McKenzie wasted no time becoming familiar with the starting lineup, scoring 23 points in a season-opening 69-55 win over La Salle at Tom Gola Arena.

Men's club volleyball continues to stay strong 21 years later

As visiting Loyola College faced Salisbury University in the Eastern Intercollegiate Volleyball Association (EIVA) Championship in March 2009, the Salisbury crowd filled the gym with cheers, chants and genuine chaos.
