One of popular culture's biggest influences, MTV, recently compiled a list of the hottest emcees/rappers for 2009. MTV, as a major player in the our-opinion-trumps-others music field, has caused a lot of ruckus and backlash from hip-hop fans worldwide.
The rappers that appear on this list (in no particular order) are Lil Wayne, Kanye, Drake, Rick Ross, Gucci Mane, Fabolous, 50 Cent, Young Jeezy, Jay-Z, and Raekwon.

Six years ago, on October 21, 2003, Elliott Smith passed away from stab wounds to the chest. It was around that time that I first heard Smithís music in the Good Will Hunting soundtrack. I liked what I heard, especially the song "Angeles" off of his 1997 album Either/Or and the Good Will Hunting soundtrack.

For the last few years, it seems that everyone thinks that MySpace is losing its thunder. No one wants to use it anymore. The new thing is Facebook, with Twitter following closely behind it.
With many bands, this isn't the case. MySpace is still very much alive in the world of music.
