After trouncing Iona 4-0 in their first MAAC game, the Loyola women's soccer team continued their hot streak by defeating Fairfield 1-0 in a tightly contested matchup against Fairfield on Sunday afternoon. With the win Loyola improves to 2-0 in the MAAC and 4-0 in their last four games.

Sometimes, monotony can be a good thing in the sporting world, especially when you are winning. Another week of soccer, another two wins for the Loyola men's soccer team, (8-0-1) whose victories over Princeton and Quinnipiac move the team's regular season unbeaten streak to 16 straight games at home, 17 in a row overall, and 23 of 24.

Katie Hoff is loving life right now. The rigorous training for Beijing, where she became more acclimated with water than a fish, is finally behind her. The early-morning wake-up calls, the strict diet, the rigid regimen and the public appearances have briefly been placed on the backburner.

Our game last Friday against Villanova was a game the entire team had been looking forward to since February 26, 2008. Flashback: On the morning of February 26, our entire team received a surprise text message saying, "Team meeting at 2 p.m." As I ran into my teammates throughout the day, many questioned if I knew what the talk was going to be about since I am a captain.

Coming off a grueling race in Minneapolis two weeks ago, the Loyola cross country team wasn't expecting to be facing such a highly competitive field this week in Bethlehem, PA. But big-name schools such as Wisconsin, Syracuse and Villanova all showed up for the Brooks/Paul Short Run on Friday, effectively pushing the Greyhounds further down the board than they would have liked.

The Loyola golf team finished in 13th place this past week at the Hartford Hawk Invitational in the Cape Cod area of Massachusetts. After the first round of play on Sunday was postponed due to inclement weather, the Hounds came out on Monday and finished 14th out of 23 teams.
