Save money and oil, ride a horse

The Pitt News, University of Pittsburgh, PA

11 hours ago by Joshua Green

I'm worried, people. Gas is at $4 a gallon. Our government is acting like Daniel Day-Lewis when it comes to oil. We need a solution, and we need it quickly. We're the United States, for crying out loud! How dare we pay the same price for oil that other countries have been paying for years? When will some brave, courageous and uncomfortably attractive individual come along with the answer?

That time is now.

Incoming Freshmen: Be advised

The Torch Online, Saint John's University New York, NY

2 days ago by Patrice Bendig, Features Editor

It is very easy to get lost in the shuffle at a large, metropolitan university like St. John's, especially if this is a person's first year in college. To make sure that this does not happen to the fresh-faced and bushy-tailed freshmen that are still on the high of senior prom and graduation, each one is assigned a freshman advisor from the well-known Freshman Center located in St.

Students here at St. John's have been complaining about the lack of campus life for the past few years. Residents say that the campus dies each weekend, forcing them to go elsewhere to have some fun on days off.

It is an identity that has been present ever since time began. … Our ancestors, who were relatively smarter than us, never fooled with that identity.

Staff Editorial: Searching for quiet

The Diamondback, University of Maryland College Park, MD

With the availability of community lounges already evaporating due to the campus housing crunch, the university seems poised to make a decision that would deprive students of a quiet place to study, a vitally important resource. Cutting the late-night study service - always popular among students cramming for exams, rushing through term papers or just looking for a quiet place to read - would leave students in the dorms with scant few areas to study and work after the sun goes down.

The world (not) according to Facebook

The Diamondback, University of Maryland College Park, MD

6 days ago by Joel Cohen

I lost access to my Facebook account for five days recently, and I thought it might be the end of the world. What would I do after checking my Gmail account? I was at a loss. But an amazing thing happened: absolutely nothing. People still pick up The Diamondback solely for the Sudoku and crossword puzzles, the McDonald's in the Stamp Student Union still serves Pepsi, and our basketball team is still, well, our basketball team.

Boycotting the U. of Perelman

To the Editor:

The renaming of Logan Hall to Claudia Cohen Hall is really an outrage because it was done without forethought. Perelman donates his money and expects something named after him or a member of his family.

Why not rename the school as University of Perelman instead? Because that is where it's headed with Perelman's money.
